About me
I am a Doctoral Candidate, currently working on my dissertation and conducting research on Systemic Racism; Mental Health & the CJS.
I hold a Bachelor's in Speech Pathology and Audiology, a Bachelor's in Psychology, and a Master of Social Work. I completed an accelerated full-time 18-month program at Hunter College - Silberman School of Social Work. My focus area during my academia was Clinical Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups. I completed a Field Specialization Certificate in Global Social Work with Immigrants and Refugees.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor [LCSW-S] and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern [LCDC-I] in the State of Texas.
my experience
I have 12+ years of experience working in the Social Services field; Competency Restoration, Preventative Services, Individual/Family Therapy Services, Intensive Evidence Based Practice, Child Protective Services, Unaccompanied Children and Families, Sponsorship, Adoption, Kinship, Reunification, Foster Care, Home Study and Post-Release Services, Assessments and Report Writing, Mental Health Evaluations, Research, DSM-5 Diagnosis and Assessments, amongst other areas.
my approach
I am an anti-racism and anti-oppression practitioner who uses holistic, cognitive, and trauma-focused modalities through person-centered and solution-focused approaches to deepen one’s insight and increase self-efficacy and resilience while providing tools to empower and access innate strengths.
I am passionate about aiding my clients in developing the necessary adaptive skills to lead wholesome, balanced, and enriching lives.
I specialize in children, adolescents, and adults. I focus on anxiety, complex trauma, racial and cultural trauma, stress, personal and interpersonal conflicts, impulsivity, defiance, aggression, low self-esteem/worth, adjustment challenges, and creative barriers.
My population expertise includes and is not limited to BIPOC, immigrants, asylees and refugees, formerly incarcerated youth and adults, adopted youth and adults, bullied youth, and professionals.
